Print Design: Chalkboard Business Card, Part 2

After creating a chalkboard image out of a photo, we have decided to create business cards. We want to follow through with the same theme. In Photoshop, we open a new document. Because of the bleed necessary for printing, we have to add 0.1” to each side of the document to ensure proper printing. A regular business card is 3.5” x 2”. So we make the new document 3.7” x 2.2”. That should be plenty for great printing. read more

After Effects Quick Tip: Toggle Transparency

If you are planning to export an after effects clip with an alpha channel and need to see what is transparent you should set your view to display the transparent area. Just click the toggle transparency icon located under the display window. (Located here) read more

How-to: Use text to display an image

Cruising through the new edition of Dynamics Graphics magazine, I couldn't help but notice its latest "How'd they do that?" Because it is a cool effect and it is easy to do, I figured I'd pass it along to any one willing to give it a whirl. I've seen this trick done in Adobe Photoshop several different ways, but of all the methods I've seen, this seems to be the easiest in my book. It's takes very few steps and creates a very nice effect. If you have working knowledge of InDesign, then it shouldn't take but a few minutes. read more
